An Update from Friday....

I went online and checked e-mail plus I went to a website for a commercial I had seen earlier in the day on WLBT [Channel 3] and I went on to check it out.  It's called Trail of Honor and it's an event that will take place next weekend to pay respect and honor to military veterans.  It'll take place at the Harley Davidson of Jackson.  I found that it's free unless you want to take a helicopter ride - that costs $50.  I went and told my housemate about it so she might consider going with me next weekend.  She's interested in going also.  I have a phone number and e-mail address so that I can contact someone for additional information not on the website.


Later, I got ready and headed out and over to where my SS Class fellowship was being held.  I got over there and found that a few people were already there.  We began ordering - I opted for the Beagle Club - and got a fruit cup with it.  I got Diet Sweet Tea to drink.  Altogether, we had a head count of 15 people in attendance.  We had a nice fellowship.  


Two people both tried to give me a cat.  I declined - on the basis of I didn't know what my housemate might have to say if I brought home another cat or two.  I didn't think she would like that.  


I excused myself soon after and headed out.  I went to the Fuel Station and found they weren't too busy.  I got $10 worth of gas instead of filling up.  This provided me with nearly 4 gallons.  The price per gallon was $2.559 after my 10 cent per gallon discount.  After fueling, I went in the store and got a few things that I needed, then checked out and came home.  


The garage door was down, so I raised it, pulled in and parked, then unloaded the car, and entered the house.  I lowered the door as I was going inside.  I found Rusty in the house and my housemate was up - it was about 8:30 PM by that time.  I went on to unload the bags and put my stuff away.  She fed Rusty and put him out; she announced she was going to go for a walk, so I said I would put my other stuff up and join her.  I did just that and we went for a short walk - it was/is quite muggy out there - and then came back and closed up the house for the night.


By the way, I told her that 2 people tried to give me cats and I declined because I didn't know how that would go over with her.  She found that interesting, but agreed that one cat in the house is enough.  Then when we returned, she lowered the garage door back down and stood there in the kitchen doorway watching to make sure no one ran in the garage.  I pointed out that with the kitchen door open, if they did run in, they could just run on in the house!  She thought about that for a moment and then started laughing and agreed that was true.  


We went on to close up the house for the night - I think she's now in bed and possibly asleep.  It's 11:15 PM and I think that I will end here for today.  Later....

Thursday (5/13)


I left work and stopped by my banking institution to ask a question.  Then I headed on to LifeWay and picked up:

I had it imprinted with the names of my cousin and her fiance - and their last name.  They will be married at the end of August; I considered leaving off the last name, but decided to go ahead and include it.  


When I left LifeWay, I headed for home; I tried to contact my friend but was unable to reach her.  So, I laid down to relax for a while.  Well, she called me back and we made arrangements for me to come over a little later.  


I took a nap, then got ready and went over there.  I was there for about 45 minutes to an hour and got everything done on her computer that she wanted me to.  Then I headed home and found that my housemate was already in.  


Eventually I went on to bed and Sukiey joined me.  


Friday (5/14)


I woke up early, but didn't get up until after my housemate had left for work.  I had breakfast, took a shower and got dressed.  Then I headed out and went over to the post office - I had an item to mail, plus I was picking up my mail.


I got that accomplished and returned home.  I rinsed off my car before pulling it into the garage, then went on do 2 loads of laundry.  The second load was still going when I got a surprise....


My housemate had taken 1/2 a day off and so she arrived at home while I was relaxing while waiting on the laundry to finish.  She changed and went out to do some yard work.  I went on to help her some; we have 2 bags of clippings ready to go with the garbage on Monday.  I took a nap after all this was done.


Now I must stop here - I have a SS class fellowship in a little while and I need to go get ready.

Today....

Good morning! 

This morning the alarm startled me awake; since it's Thursday, I not only silenced the alarm, I turned it off.  I really didn't want to get up and come in to work today, but I did anyway [obviously].  I went on kick off the morning routine.  By the time I was done in the shower, dressed and went out to the kitchen, I found that my housemate had gotten up and was gone with Rusty for their morning walk.  

I retrieved the newspaper, prepared breakfast and was eating and checking out the newspaper by the time they returned.  I commented on the front page story - it concerns the woman who was sentenced on Monday.  She is now in the correctional facility in Pearl and the story says that she has filed a lawsuit - against her husband!  She alleges that he had a hand in causing the wreck and that he is making her take the fall for it, amongst other things.  What is curious is that he was not present in court at the sentencing to support her, though his lawyer says he has supported her through all of this.  My housemate said that she had read part of the article.  

I finished up with breakfast and cleaned up behind myself.  My housemate went on to start getting ready for work while I went to finish up getting ready and then headed out.  When I got in I got the day started.  

One of my favorite co-workers is out today - it's the spring edition of the Canton Flea Market.  I asked her if she was planning to go and buy some fleas and she laughed and said she might - depending on what she found and the pricing.  She's going with 2 of her daughters and eldest daughter's mother-in-law.  That daughter and her MIL are riding together; She and the other daughter are riding together and they will meet there.  Her youngest daughter  will be in classes at Hinds.  

I'll be leaving later this afternoon.  I got a call from my friend and she wants to make it around 3:30 PM or after for me to come over to her house and help her.  I will go by LifeWay and get the gift, then go by the house and change and then go to my friend's house.

What About Wednesday, 5/12/2010?

I reset my watch - back about 5 or 6 minutes - to be within a few seconds of the computer at work.  We learned this morning that a supervisor has changed shifts though no explanation was given as to why this change has been made.  We were wondering why he wasn't here and so when we asked, that's what we were told.

The alarm went off this morning and I got up and kicked off the routine.  I went on to take a shower and get dressed, then headed on to the kitchen to start breakfast; I retrieved the newspaper and when my housemate emerged from her bedroom, I was already at the den table eating and reading the newspaper.  

I finished up and cleaned up while she attended to getting Rusty's breakfast for him.  Then I went on to finish getting ready for work.  When I did that, I came back out and found that she was looking at the newspaper.  We talked about the sentencing of that woman yesterday; I told her that I think that her name worked against her - that the Judge felt under pressure from the public to show that just because this woman is who she is [wife of a multi-millionaire] she wouldn't receive any preferential treatment and a lighter sentence.  Linda said that she agreed with my assessment - that the Judge felt she needed to send a message to the entire state that it doesn't matter who you are - you will receive the same sentence - rich or poor.  

Good afternoon....it's 5:19 PM.  I just got a call from a friend.  She is still doing the treasurer of a mission group - I can't recall the name of it right now - and she wanted to know if I might be able to come and help her with some things on the computer; I said that I could come tomorrow afternoon after I get done with work.  I said that I need to check with LifeWay and then go by there and pick up something that I was having imprinted.  I told her that I had gotten something that I wanted imprinted and had to leave it to be done because they were swamped and I needed to call and see if they had it ready.

After hanging up with her, I called LifeWay and inquired. The person I spoke with put me on hold and checked, then came back and informed me that it is ready for pick up.  So, I will make my way there after work and then go and see if I can help her.  I may stop at the house and drop off the gift plus change clothes before heading over there.  

For lunch, I headed outside and met up with a co-worker and we went down to Chick-Fil-A and then took a long walk back.  She went back to her office and I went up to the 2nd floor and ate lunch, then grabbed Josephus and read some of it.

I've read quite a bit of Book Two today.  I did start on it yesterday evening; I picked back up and started on it and I'm now through Chapter 13 - there are a total of 16.  So, I have almost completed it as well.

Monday (5/10)

I was on the phone with my brother for about 30 minutes last night - he called just as I had pulled in the garage and parked.  He needed my assistance with loading a file onto a portable drive so that he could transport it between his home computer and office computer.  I helped him with that, then we caught up with what had been going on with each other since we last talked.  

I learned my oldest nephew had had to have an additional surgery on his thumb.  He had injured it as a result of an accident last year in which his truck was totaled.  He was not at fault.  He had surgery on it a while back, but the thumb was still not right, so they had to go in last week and redo the surgery.  He's hopeful to only miss a couple of weeks of work.  His thumb is very important to him in his line of work.  

Tuesday (5/11):

I finished reading Book One of The Antiquities of The Jews: From the Creation to the Death of Issac.  I still have Books Two and Three to read.  I found Book One to - for the most part - confirm Biblical accounts.  There were just a few items in there that I found to differ from the Bible.  Book Two has 16 chapters and Book Three has 15.  I have 2 weeks to read them.  

Earlier today Karen Irby was sentenced to 2 18 year terms in prison - to run concurrently - in the deaths of 2 young doctors in February, 2009 as the result of a head-on collision in North Jackson.  The sentencing was carried live by WAPT-TV [Channel 16].  

A co-worker and I went walking this morning - just a short walk - and indoors down the street down a long hallway.  Supposedly 2 trips up and down that long hallway is a mile.  She and I both need to get back to walking for exercise - well I do, anyway.

Today is "drummer boy" Mark Joel Herndon's 55th birthday.  He played drums for country supergroup and Artist of the Decade and Country Music Hall of Fame members ALABAMA.

Sunday evening and Monday

Sunday (5/9)

My housemate arrived home about 8:40 PM.  She said that it was a tiring drive but she made it.  She shared with me some details of her visit with her family and we had a nice catch-up chat before I finally went on to bed, since I had an early call this morning.  

Monday (5/10)

I attended the lunch at First Baptist of Jackson and we had a good speaker today.  It has been a quiet day; cooler than usual for this time of year.  There was even a little bit of rain this morning - although I didn't see any on my way in to work.  

On the walk back to work afterward, the sun had popped through.  Our high today was 81 degrees.  We struggled to reach that!

Saturday, 5/8 & Sunday 5/9, 2010

Saturday (5/8):


My housemate and I took Rusty for a walk in the morning.  I "took the reins" so to speak - that is, I had control of the leash.  I think we confused the dog because she was with me, but I had the leash.  


Once we were done, I left and ran an errand to the grocery store to pick up some things, including a bag of dog food for Rusty.  We hadn't gotten any food for him since before she made the trip to Vancouver, Canada but his food bin was starting to get low.  The bag I got him is 17.6 pounds.  We haven't opened it yet since we want to try to use up all of what is in the bin first.  


After the stop at the grocery, I went on to LifeWay Christian Stores and did some shopping.  I got a couple of copies of Barbie's book.  I found they were actually already signed, but that she would personalize them when she arrived.  So, I put them in the buggy, then went on do some additional shopping.  


I got a copy of Edge of Apocalypse: The End Series from Dr. Tim LaHaye and Craig Parshall; a copy of Stormie Omartian's The Power of Praying Through the Bible and I was also looking for something to go with the items I've got for my cousin and her fiancé for a wedding "happy".  I settled on something that is made specifically for weddings and was recommended by Nancy, an employee at LifeWay that I personally know.  It's still at LifeWay to have their names imprinted on it because they're backed up with imprint work due to graduations and weddings.  I should be able to pick it up sometime this week, though.


Eventually Barbie came in and there was a small crowd waiting to greet her.  I was first to get my books done and I got a picture taken with her.  I also got pictures of her signing the books.  Before the signing, though, I had taken pictures of the book display.

Forecasts & Faith: Five Keys to Weathering the Storms of Life

at LifeWay Christian Stores in Jackson on Saturday, May 8, 2010                                 

Once my books were signed and the pictures taken, I gathered my stuff and left.  I headed for home, but bypassed the house and instead went to a local restaurant and placed a "to go" order and picked it up and came home.  I ate lunch and did a few things around the house.

My housemate had declined to go to the signing as a friend of hers had passed away and she had some things to do at home before going to attend the funeral.  She came in from the funeral sometime after I got back and I shared with her about the signing.  

She changed clothes and packed, then headed out to travel to her son's home in North Mississippi to be there for Mother's Day and to attend her grand-daughter's violin recital.

Sunday (5/9):

I got up and ready and went to church and Sunday School today.  I went on to stop on the way home to pick up lunch at a local restaurant, then came in and changed clothes and ate lunch.  

There were no activities at church this afternoon or evening because of it being Mother's Day.  I took a nap and have done a few things around the house as well.  

My housemate should be on her way home by now - in fact, hopefully she should be close to pulling in the driveway.  

I suppose that this is all I've got for now....
