Update...

My housemate and I attended Carols By Candlelight 2010 at First Baptist Church - Jackson on Sunday - December 12, 2010 - and thoroughly enjoyed the performance.  I took a number of pictures - I uploaded a total of 54 from my digital camera, though I deleted some from the camera before I uploaded any of them.  They were good for the most part - I had to take them in low light and with no flash.

Monday I went to the Women's Lunch at FBCJ - it was the last one of the year and Jo Patterson was the guest speaker.  She did a great job with her message and Sarah Lee nailed O Holy Night after having sang in all 5 performances of Carols By Candlelight.

When I came home afterward, I had planned to grab my checkbook and leave again to go run a shopping errand, but my tummy had other ideas.  I waited a couple of hours and decided it was safe, so I left again and did go out and do the shopping that I needed to do.  I purchased the last Christmas gift that I needed.

I returned home and hung out the remainder of the day.  It was cold but sunny.  When I got up this morning, it was 23 degrees with a wind chill of 17.  It's now up to 42 degrees with no wind chill.

This is about all I've got - for now.

An Update....

I had a "staycation" Thanksgiving week and stayed home instead of traveling anywhere.  I enjoyed hanging around the house and doing what I felt like doing when I felt like doing it.  I went with my housemate and her adult children and grandchildren to a Thanksgiving dinner party - lunch actually.  It was out in the country and the weather was okay.  We had been warned for storms moving in, but they bypassed us at the last minute and we had a great weather day.  We got plenty of pictures.

Then on Monday night my housemate and I traveled down to Jackson Academy's Performing Arts Center and took in the David Phelps Christmas Tour concert.  It was great.  I got some pictures but was disappointed that David didn't do a "meet and greet".  He wasn't feeling well, so that explained it.  Anyway, the weather was also turning bad and so we hightailed it home about 15-20 minutes after the concert.

There were tornadoes in Mississippi Monday night/Tuesday morning and storms kept rumbling through and keeping me awake.  I finally got some sleep, then got up and ready, then went out and ran some errands.  I got some Christmas shopping done, then Tuesday night got them packaged up to ship out.  I sent them out on Wednesday.

Today is back to work for me.  A bit of an awakening as I'm "home alone" until the evening guys get here.

The Past Few Days....

I last posted on Thursday.  I've been active on my other blogs, though.  I had a pretty quiet and uneventful weekend at work.  Now I'm on vacation this entire week.  I had hoped to travel home to Louisiana for Thanksgiving, but I'm afraid that isn't happening.

I learned today that my SIL did not go for the CAT scan as scheduled.  It seems that her insurance company balked at approving the test after she has already had the heart cath.  So, it was canceled and instead, now they have to wait for the cardiologist to send the insurance people a letter explaining why he needs the CAT scan done and what he is looking for with it.  No telling how long that will take - to get approval for the test to be done.

I went to the Women's Luncheon at FBCJ today and served soup once again.  Attendance was down a little due to this being a holiday week, but we still had a good crowd.

I stopped at the post office and dropped off the class newsletters and also picked up my incoming mail - nothing but junk there.

After getting home and taking care of some business, I went online and looked up something, then called my brother back and gave him the information.  I also grabbed my camera and took a walk around the neighborhood and got some shots of the fall foliage.  I've posted a few shots on my photography blog; I also got some new shots of Sukiey and I posted some on her blog.

I guess there's not a lot to share, so this will do it....

Looking Back....

Wednesday I met 3 friends at Cracker Barrel for lunch.  We had a nice lunch and visit.  Then I returned home and tackled doing laundry.  I only had 2 loads this week - for which I was happy.  Sukiey had caused an extra load last week when she threw up on my bed.

I talked with my brother and learned the results of my SIL's visit with her cardiologist.  He said she has an aneurysm in her heart but the good news is that it's not of the aortic variety.  She goes for a CAT Scan on Monday and then will see the cardiologist again just before Christmas.

I told him that I ought to send Sukiey down to look at her.  CAT scan - well Sukiey is a cat!  He was amused by that comment.

Later on last night my housemate was in bed asleep and she was awakened by Rusty barking rather vociferously.  I was up and on the computer; I heard him too.  I usually don't hear him in my bedroom, but the house was quiet - TV off - and so I heard him.

I knew why.....I could hear thunder and it sounded like it was right outside my bedroom window.  It was also raining.  She got up and as she was heading back to her bedroom, I was in the hallway and she asked if I had heard Rusty barking and I said yes.  She said she didn't know why he was barking but she had brought him inside and had him in the den.  I told her that it had been thundering and raining.  That explained it - the thunder!

She went on back to bed, I went out to the kitchen and got a drink, then returned to my bedroom and went on to bed myself.

I don't know where that storm came from last night, but it's shaping up to be a beautiful day today.  It's currently 52 degrees under sunny/fair skies.  I've already eaten breakfast and have cleaned up in the kitchen.

It's time for me to do some other things....

An Update....

Today is a milestone day for me - yep, it's my birthday.  I've been trying something new.  I had several "stand alone" pages on this blog and was also posting [mainly] about LSU and the Saints along with adding other things from time to time.

I was trying to find a free website that would allow me multiple blogs for different categories.  I tried several different ones, but none turned out to be satisfactory.  So, what I wound up doing this afternoon was sitting down and creating separate blogs for each category - I now have a total of 6 separate blogs and will post news about LSU and the Saints on their blogs, photos on the photo blog I set up, stuff about Sukiey on the blog I set up for her and stuff about Josephus on that blog.

This will cause me not to have so many posts on this blog each month anymore, but that's okay.  I'll get over it!  I'll just post on the appropriate blog instead.

In other news, I went to work - but not to work, this morning.  My group was having a Thanksgiving BBQ lunch and I attended to eat with my co-workers.  I had a good time with them.  When I left to return home, I stopped at the post office for the mail and found that I only had a couple of pieces of junk and a mailer from LifeWay Christian Stores.

As I was reaching the house, rain started coming down again.  I raised the garage door and pulled in and parked, then lowered the door.  So, I didn't get wet - period.

I've received numerous text messages, phone calls, FB messages, e-mails and even some "snail mail" paper cards.  It makes me realize how many friends and family I do have!

Time to run along....
