Baton Rouge -- There were no more improbable figures than Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee to take LSU's fate in their hands Saturday at Tiger Stadium and deliver the Tigers from evil.
Or from Alabama and Coach Nick Saban, who are an acceptable equivalent in Baton Rouge.
Jefferson and Lee have been the banes of LSU's offensive existence this season. They are the co-heads of a quarterback system that most felt had LSU headed for a lower-tier bowl game.
Jefferson and Lee were heroes against the Crimson Tide as much as any Tigers could have been in a 24-21 victory that kept alive the hopes of LSU (8-1, 5-1 SEC) to win the SEC West Division, advance to the conference title game and play for the BCS national title.
