Thursday - April 8, 2010 - the rest of the day....

I left work at 12:00 PM and stopped to do some banking, then made my way to keep an appointment that I had.  I didn't know exactly where the place is located; I had asked my housemate this morning to tell me again how to get there.  I was was going for a hair cut.

Well, following her directions, I found my way there without difficulty and went in and met her hairstylist.  She has now become my hairstylist as well.  She did a great job with my hair and charged no more than my previous hairstylist did.

When I got done there, I stopped and placed an order "to go" and when it was ready, headed on home.  I changed clothes, then ate lunch.  I wanted to take a nap; I laid down and everytime I would just about fall asleep, my cell phone began ringing.  It was a friend of mine calling - she called twice - to ask questions about a computer issue.

Once I finally got her taken care of, I laid there with Sukiey and drifted off to sleep for about 30-45 minutes.  When I woke up, I got up and got on the computer and did some things.

Now I'm tuned to the Chicago Cubs v. Atlanta Braves on CSS HD.  At the end of the 5th inning, the Cubs are ahead by 2-0.  My housemate came in - she had been to get a pedicure after work.  Now she has gone to go get a workout in - though she's going to be careful with her pretty feet!

I showed her the pack of baseballs that I bought yesterday evening and told her what my plan is.  I'm going to take the entire 12 pack with me - unopened - to church Sunday morning.  I won't open the package until and unless I can get to Bobby Richardson to get them signed - that way I can return them to the store if it doesn't work out!

We talked about her photos - she said she is going to need to review them to find out what the number of the last photo is on the CD so she will know from what point to go to put the remaining photos from Canada on a CD.  She said she will try and do this sometime tomorrow at work - since her computer here at home doesn't work well with viewing a CD - so we can go Saturday and get the rest of the photos copied to a CD and also pull her Easter photos off of the memory stick - copy those to a CD as well so that she can e-mail them to her kids.

Well - this is all I've got for now....

Tuesday & Wednesday & Thursday [so far]

Tuesday (4/6) was a good day at work. and weather-wise.  We had a high in the mid-80s - 83 I think it was.  I went to lunch at a deli in the Downtown area - I had a full card and so I would get a "free sandwich" so I walked down there and ordered; it was good.

Wednesday (4/7) I left work early and stopped by the post office for the mail.  Then I went to a sporting goods store and picked up a pack of 12 baseballs.  I have 6 boys in my family that I'm in hopes of getting a ball signed for by NY Yankee legend Bobby Richardson when he makes an appearance at First Baptist on Sunday.  I plan to take my camera to get pictures as well.  It was a better deal to buy a pack of 12 instead of just 6 balls.

The storms that moved through overnight didn't wake me up - surprisingly enough.  However, Rusty started barking and carrying on so that my housemate had to get up during the night and bring him in and put him in her bathroom.

Thursday (4/8) so far is a quiet day.  I have an appointment at 1:00 PM to get a hair cut.  I also need to stop by my banking institution to take care of some business.  It's my "short day" at work, so I'll leave at 12:00 PM.

This is all for now....

Monday - April 5, 2010

Today was a good day around these parts - weather-wise it was beautiful and warm - we hit a high of 84 degrees.

One of my co-workers and I went over to One Great Lunch Break at First Baptist - Jackson.  We had a good meal and good message.  We met some friends there and sat with them.

I "coached" my housemate on the exercises she was given to do with regard to her ankle injury.  By that, I mean that I watched her do them and then helped her figure out what some of the diagrams were on the paperwork.

Rusty and Sukiey were good animals for us.  Neither one caused any trouble or havoc.

Time to head to bed - that alarm clock goes off early in the morning!

Sunday - April 4, 2010 -- Happy Easter!!

***Happy Easter!!!***

Good afternoon!  Currently I'm tuned to CSS and the Georgia vs. LSU baseball game.  Going in to the bottom of the 8th inning, the score is 10-3 LSU.  GEAUX Tigers!!!!

I attended church this morning - both Worship and Sunday School.  Of course, the focus in both places had to do with the resurrection of Jesus.  In Sunday School we read from an assortment of Scriptures and had a discussion concerning Jesus' death and His resurrection.

We were done early; I left and made a stop at one of the restaurants that I knew would be open.  I got a "take out" order, came home and ate.  I let Rusty in the house while I was eating lunch, then gave him a dog biscuit and put him back outside.

I changed clothes - to a pair of shorts and my new LSU baseball tee shirt.  And, I've taken a nap - while the game was in progress.  I slept for about 45 minutes, I guess.

Update: LSU has defeated Georgia by a final score of 15-5 at Alex Box in Baton Rouge.  GEAUX Tigers!!!!

I've written and sent my Sunday School class's newsletter.  I also printed copies for the 3 members who don't have e-mail and I have them ready to go in the mail tomorrow - well, I have to add the postage stamp, but I'll do that before dropping them in the mail drop box.

We hit a high of 81 degrees today and it has been a beautiful day in the area.  I've eaten supper and took my PM meds.  I also let Rusty in while I was doing that, but I've fed him and put him back out on the patio.

This is all I have for today....

Saturday - April 3, 2010

I was awakened around 3:00 AM by a clap of thunder and lightning.  This was no surprise, as we had been told to expect storms moving through overnight. However, I rolled over and went right back to sleep.  There were no issues with power.

Then, around 6:45 AM, I was awakened again - this time by Sukiey.  She was pawing at me to wake me up.  I finally got up and discovered that my housemate was already up.  She said that around 3:00 AM she had gotten up and brought Rusty inside - as he was carrying on due to the weather.  She had shut him up in her bathroom but he kept on barking.  Usually he quits barking when he's placed in there because he knows he's safe.

I planned to go to breakfast with some of our circle of friends this morning.  We have a standing breakfast meeting at a local restaurant on the 1st Saturday of the month.  So, I didn't eat my regular breakfast; instead, I ate just a snack so I could take my AM meds.  Then I went through the newspaper.

In the Religion section I found a big article  about the upcoming Extraordinary Women Conference at First Baptist Church - Jackson - April 16-17, 2010. I read the article and asked my housemate if I could keep the section with that article in it as I had someone I wanted to make a copy of it for and share it with.  She said yes, so I took the section out of the paper and brought it to my bedroom.

Well, I went on to take a shower and get dressed, then I finished up getting ready to go meet our friends for breakfast.  My housemate was traveling out of town to go visit with her son and his family for Easter.  She asked me if she left a check for her tithe/offering could/would I take it and turn it in for her tomorrow.  I said yes, just put it in one of her envelopes from church.  She looked and couldn't find the ones for April, but she had some old ones, so I said she should just strike through the old date and write in tomorrow's date.

As I was leaving, she was getting ready to call her daughter-in-law and make sure that it was still okay for her to drive to their home to visit.  I headed on to the restaurant and was first to arrive.  I noted that one large booth was still available so I went and placed my order, then went and tagged it so that other customers would know it was "taken".  We never know for sure how many in the circle will show up until Saturday morning when they come - or don't!  Since there can sometimes be 10-12 people, that's why I grabbed the large booth.

Well, my order arrived; one of the circle called me back (I had called her earlier to see if she was coming and she hadn't answered) and asked if I was going to be there.  I said that I already was there and had a booth for us.  She arrived soon after and went and placed her order.  Her order arrived; then another member of the circle arrived and she had already placed her order and joined us at the table and was waiting for it when the last person in the circle to show up joined us - she had also already placed her order.  It turned out that there were only 4 of us today.

After a nice breakfast, we left.  Two of the others and myself met at a local Christian store and did some browsing; I found a new CD to purchase: Ronnie Milsap's Then Sings My Soul: 24 Hymns and Gospel Favorites.  I got it and a bookmark.  Then, after checking out, I went to a nearby dollar store and picked up a few items there.

I swapped the new CD into the CD player of my car before heading home.  When I got home, I found that my housemate had left for her overnight trip.  She left me the envelope to turn in at church tomorrow along with an Easter card and a note saying she would see me tomorrow.  I went on to put the envelope in my gear bag that I take to church so I won't forget it in the morning.

After going online and reading e-mail and doing a couple of other things on the computer, I decided to go to the nearby store where I've been printing my digital photos.  I took 2 CDs with me to print photos from for my new album.  I got in there and discovered that a woman was already monopolizing the machine I wanted to use - the one that prints the pictures directly.  She was totally oblivious to the fact that there was another customer waiting to use the machine she was tying up and had no intention of getting through with it anytime soon.

As a result, I was forced to use one of the machines that has to go through the system that requires the clerks to print the pictures.  I put the CDs in one at a time and selected the photos, then placed the order.  I learned that I would have to come back and pick them up - all because this other woman was tying up the machine that would print them while I waited!

I left and went over to a sports store and shopped - to kill some time - and did find an LSU Tigers baseball tee shirt that I wanted.  I did purchase it.  Then I rode over to the post office and picked up my mail - all I had was a piece of junk - so no bills!  Then I returned to check on my pictures. They were ready, so I picked them up and paid for them.

From there I headed home.  I entered the photos in my album, then sat down and updated and balanced my checkbook.  I also got on the computer and did a few things, including check e-mail and going through my contacts book and updating it - deleting some that I will never send or receive a message from again in the future and getting it cleaned up.  I deleted over 100, by the way.

After doing that, I called and placed an order for supper, then left and drove out to the place and picked it up.  I returned home and brought Rusty inside while I ate, then I fed him and put him back outside.  After the storms from early this morning, the day has turned off beautiful and warm - as I write this, it's 76 degrees.

Sukiey is here with me.  She is snoozing on the back of my recliner.

I guess this is all for today - at this point, anyway.

Friday, April 2, 2010 ~ Good Friday!

I made a stop at Wal*Mart and purchased some things - including a nozzle for the garden hose.  Then I went to the grocery store and got some things - Wal*Mart didn't have/stock those items.  I returned home and ate lunch.

Then, I connected the nozzle to the hose and rinsed the yellow pollen off of my car.  I left it in the driveway to dry off, but lo and behold, by the time I went back out to pull it in the garage, it was covered in pollen again.  So, I rinsed it off again and this time immediately pulled it in the garage and let it dry in there.

My housemate came in from work.  She needed gas since she would be traveling this weekend and I had a 10 cent per gallon fuel discount to give, so we rode over and filled up her car, then stopped and picked up food orders.  Then, when we returned home, I rinsed the pollen off of her car with the hose and she pulled it in the garage.

Later she went to the gym and got in the swimming pool, then the whirlpool.  I ate supper while she was gone, she ate hers when she returned.  Rusty was a bad dog - he got one of her gloves and chewed it so that she had to throw the pair away.  She was not happy with him!!!

Update.....It's Been Awhile!

Good morning....

It's been awhile since I posted an entry.  Let me hit the highlights....

Tuesday (3/23) was the night of Josephus and we had a good class meeting.  We were assigned, for the next class meeting (4/27), to read:

The War of the Jews:

Book Five:

From the Coming of Titus to Besiege Jerusalem to the Great Extremity to Which the Jews Were Reduced

Book Six:

From the Great Extremity to Which The Jews Were Reduced to the Taking of Jerusalem by Titus

I haven't started on either of these yet, though.

Then on Saturday (3/27), my housemate and I attended an event at a place out in the country in Byram and had a great time.  We took lots of pictures and walked out in the woods and just enjoyed the scenery and visited with the people who live there.  They grilled out for lunch - great!!

Sunday (3/28) was Palm Sunday and we attended church in the morning.  There wasn't an evening service, but there was a presentation called The Wonder of Easter.  It wound up that neither of us made it to either performance.

Monday, Tuesday & Wednesday (3/29-31) I took a class offered through work called Basic Telecommunications.  So, I was tied up all 3 days during the day.  I went on to take off early on Wednesday - since it was payday - once class finished.  I had some errands to run and took care of those.

Thursday (4/1) was a good day at work - it went by real fast.  It's my "short day" at work.  I left at 12:00 PM.  For lunch I met several friends at a deli in the area.  There were 7 of us that got together.

Afterwards, I left and headed home, but stopped en route to run a couple of errands.  Then when I got home, I changed clothes and hung out at the house and did a few things - including taking a nap.

Today is Good Friday.  I have a couple of errands to do and will get them taken care of in a little while.  I'm not in a huge hurry since it is my regular day off.

Later....
