Senior Murphy making run at LSU's starting tailback job

LSU fifth-year senior running back Richard Murphy has endured two major knee injuries — the second costing him most of last season — and has recovered well enough to be running as the first-team tailback in some team drills so far.
Both legs feature scars, the right one much smaller and unnoticeable because of a new procedure that involved taking part of a hamstring to strengthen the injured knee.
“I like this scar a lot better,” Murphy said with a smile. “It’s a lot smaller.”
Now 23, Murphy is one of the older Tigers and easily the most experienced.
