"Brett Favre is back in Minnesota, still crazy for football after all these years. The future hall of fame quarterback returned to the Vikings on Tuesday, more than six months after the New Orleans Saints almost battered him back into retirement while vanquishing Minnesota in the NFC championship game. All it took was another operation on his gimpy left ankle in May, followed by more wink-wink vacillating, a text-messaging kerfuffle during training camp and some all-star lobbying by teammates this week to persuade Favre to consider coming back for a 20th NFL season. Favre arrived at Winter Park shortly before 4 p.m. Tuesday. He was chauffeured by kicker and close friend Ryan Longwell, who"

Vikings Did Exactly What They Had To Do

"No player in the history of sports has ever extended his team farther over a barrel than Brett Favre dangled the Vikings and their three Ambassadors to Hattiesburg on Tuesday morning. It breaks the record set by Favre a year ago today when he finally showed up to save the Vikings. You know, the first time around. If the Vikings came off looking desperate, clumsy and discombobulated, it doesn't really matter. The only thing that mattered was convincing Favre to keep playing ahead of Tarvaris Jackson. The groveling, the reported $7 million pay bump and Tuesday's Keystone Kops routine will be long forgotten by the time Faith Hill starts singing on Sept. 9. Before Air Favre One finally arrived"

"The Vikings are expected to hold a news conference today to announce Brett Favre's decision. Visanthe Shiancoe coined the phrase "Favre-a-palooza" last year and dubbed a pair of televised helicopter pursuits of Brett Favre's arrival "O.J. chases." The Vikings tight end, however, was more direct and less witty in his reaction to Favre's return Tuesday that created another circus-like spectacle. "Let's get it started," he said. "That's it." OK then. Wide receiver Bernard Berrian didn't hold back his feelings either. "I'm gettin Favre 4 President shirts made," Berrian tweeted. As usual, the circumstances leading to Favre's arrival went three exits past surreal and capped off another wild day"
