Brett Favre to rejoin Vikings
Quarterback Brett Favre is reportedly flying to Minnesota to rejoin the Vikings in camp.
Brett Favre has flown to Minnesota from Mississippi to rejoin the Vikings for his 20th NFL season, the Biloxi Sun Herald reports.
A highly placed source tells the Sun Herald that Favre and his wife, Deanna, were on the plane, and that he intends to join the team in training camp.
Earlier in the day, the Minneapolis Star Tribune reported three Vikings players skipped the team's morning practice and flew to Favre’s home in Hattiesburg, Miss. Defensive end Jared Allen, guard Steve Hutchinson and kicker Ryan Longwell were charged with the task of convincing Favre to return to Minnesota for a second season.
The NFL Network's Scott Hanson tweeted that Favre was in the air shortly after the visit. FoxSports.com reports Favre told the three teammates he would play for the Vikings this season, and that they were on the plane with him.
Although Favre had reportedly told some Vikings teammates on Aug. 2 that his plans were to retire for good, the team gave him time to change his mind. ESPN.com reports the Vikings grew panicked Monday when Favre remained reluctant to join the team.
