LSU-Oregon to kick-off 2011 season in Texas
LSU officially added a considerable bit of beef to its 2011 football schedule Tuesday.
Or in this case, some impressive poultry.
Senior Associate Athletic Director Verge Ausberry confirmed Tuesday that the Tigers will begin next season against perennial Pac-10 Conference powerhouse Oregon in the Cowboys Classic at Cowboys Stadium in Arling-ton, Texas.
"The Cowboys and organizers put together a great package for us and this game gives the kind of exposure and national publicity we were looking for," Ausberry said. "It gets the LSU brand out there again in a national set-ting against a great program.
"We'll have an older, more experienced team next year and that makes it a good time to play this type of game."
