Jarrett Lee strapped on his helmet, warmed up his right arm and, with Saturday night’s 20-14 victory over West Virginia still unsettled, trotted onto the same Tiger Stadium turf where he once heard boos.
This time, the crowd roared.
Another rough spot in starting quarterback Jordan Jefferson’s maligned season opened the door — if only briefly — for his backup to show if he could run the LSU offense.
“We needed a change right there,” LSU coach Les Miles said.
Lee lasted only one possession, handing off twice to Stevan Ridley before completing a 5-yard pass short of a first down. He returned to the sideline as Derek Helton and the punting unit took the field.
One possession later, Jefferson was back under center to run out the clock.
Down rang the boos.
