Drake Nevis, Josh Jasper take honors

BATON ROUGE - CBS today selected the LSU-Tennessee game of Oct. 2 in Tiger Stadium for its 2:30 p.m. national game and first part of a doubleheader. No. 1 Alabama and No. 9 Florida will play on CBS at 7 that night.

The No. 12 Tigers (3-0, 2-0 Southeastern Conference) play No. 21 West Virginia (3-0) at 8 p.m. Saturday on ESPN2. Tennessee is 1-2 overall and 0-1 in the SEC.
There were not a lot of SEC games to choose from for CBS. The only other games involving SEC teams on Oct. 2 are Kentucky at Ole Miss, Alcorn State at Mississippi State, Vanderbilt at Connecticut, Louisiana-Monroe at Auburn and Georgia at Colorado.
Two LSU players were honored by the SEC on Monday for their efforts in the Tigers' 29-7 win over Mississippi State on Saturday. Kicker Josh Jasper was named the league's special teams player of the week after setting the school record with five field goals and tying the school record for points in a game with 17 points, including two extra points.
A senior from Memphis, Tenn., Jasper is also LSU's goal-line punter and put a 39 yarder at the State 5-yard line. He also kicks off and had one in the end zone for a touchback.
