Eli Manning says he's OK, admits bloody hit jarred him
New York Giants QB Eli Manning said Wednesday he was lucky to escape more serious injury on Monday when he suffered a gash to his forehead in a bizarre play at the line of scrimmage.
Manning pronounced himself OK after needing stitches to close a three-inch gash that sent blood pouring from his head onto the field after his helmet popped off following a collision.
"No other injuries," Manning said Wednesday as he took part in a workout with the Giants (via the Newark Star-Ledger). "My neck feels fine. I feel pretty good. … It could have been worse. It was more me hitting (Jets safety Jim) Leonhard; he didn't come in and hit me. I could have taken something to the nose or broken something.
"Anytime you lose a helmet, a lot of bad things can happen," he said, "so I think I came out OK, considering."
