LSU senior Josh Jasper is one of 30 players from across the country who have been named to the preseason watch list for the 2010 Lou Groza Award, the Palm Beach County Sports Commission announced Friday.
The Lou Groza Award is given annually to the top placekicker in college football.
Jasper, from Memphis, Tenn., is entering his second season as LSU’s primary place-kicker.
Last season, Jasper ranked among the Southeastern Conference leaders in field goal percentage, connecting on 17 of 20 field goal attempts. For his career, he’s made 19 of 22 attempts, including six of 40 yards or more. His career best is a 52-yarder against Louisiana-Lafayette last year.
The Lou Groza semifinalists will be named on Friday, Oct. 29 with the three finalists selected on Nov. 22.
