Emotions high for Saints-Vikings game

Emotions high for Saints-Vikings game

It’s been 228 days since the New Orleans Saints and Minnesota Vikings met on a football field and engaged in a memorable slugfest with the NFL’s biggest prize — a berth in the Super Bowl and a chance to win the Vince Lombardi Trophy — on the line.
After more than 60 minutes of intense play that Jan. 24 night, the Saints claimed the title in the NFC Championship game, 31-28, on Garrett Hartley’s 40-yard field goal in overtime.
The victory sent the Saints to Super Bowl XLIV, where they defeated the Indianapolis Colts 31-17 and became world champions for the first time in the 43-year history of the franchise. While the Saints played in the Super Bowl, the Vikings were left to play a game of what-if after committing five turnovers.
Since that electric evening in the Superdome, the two teams have engaged in a lot of sniping, trash-talking and tweeting in anticipation of their rematch at 7:30 p.m. today in the same building.
