Putting it together
Tigers use strong defense, Ridley to smother Vanderbilt

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — No, it wasn’t a thing of beauty.
And yes, there are still a bunch of kinks to hammer out for LSU’s offense after another sluggish night when Jordan Jefferson took a step in the wrong direction, but also didn’t get a ton of help from his receivers.
But there’s no confusion about two things: The Tigers’ defense is tough-as-nails ready and Stevan Ridley is unequivocally LSU’s hoss in the backfield.
Those two factors loomed large Saturday as the 19th-ranked Tigers plugged through a lethargic three quarters by harassing the Vanderbilt offense into a horrid night and Ridley took over down the stretch in a 27-3 LSU triumph.
“Some work to do,” Tigers coach Les Miles said. “It’s nice to go on the road in this conference and win.
“Not perfect. work to do. We’ve got to start faster than we started and our quarterback’s got to play better and I think he will.”
