"LOS ANGELES -- Trey Watkins' two-out, two-run double in the bottom of the 11th helped LSU rally past UC Irvine, 11-10, today in the opener of an NCAA regional at UCLA's Jackie Robinson Stadium.
The Tigers (41-20) will play at 8 p.m. Central time Saturday against the winner of today's second game between host and No. 1 regional seed UCLA and Kent State.
The Anteaters (37-20) will play the UCLA-Kent State loser in an elimination game at 4 p.m. Saturday.
Watkins' hit ended a game that lasted 4 hours and 4 minutes. LSU blew a 7-3 lead it held after six innings and an 8-7 edge in the ninth. But the Tigers overcame one-run deficits with two-out hits in the bottom of the ninth and 11th innings to win."
