There have been parties and parades. Jerseys have been retired. Streets were named for players. And there was a lavish ring ceremony.
It was certainly fun while it lasted. But when the New Orleans Saints report to training camp Thursday at their Metairie training facility, Super Bowl XLIV will be nothing more than a distant memory.
And when they take the field at 8:50 a.m. Friday for the first of 36 training camp practices, they’ll be focused on one thing: Super Bowl XLV.
“Just about every player on our team had their high school jersey retired and a street named after them in their hometowns,” mused Super Bowl MVP Drew Brees earlier this spring.
