Currently it's 97 degrees under fair skies with a heat index of 97 degrees! It's been a while since the real temperature and the heat index were one and the same - at least during the day.
This morning there was some serious traffic congestion coming in to work. The World Barrel Horse Association Championships are in town until the end of the month. They will pump $30M+ into the Jackson economy. Traffic was backed up with 20-25 trailers with horses loaded in them lined up to go into the Equine Center at the State Fairgrounds. I made it in to work on time, though.
TS Bonnie is scheduled to make landfall sometime Sunday evening or Monday in the Louisiana area - but Mississippi will benefit from her. She should bring us 2-4 inches of rain - which is badly needed.
There was a water main break in Northeast Jackson earlier today and it sent a geyser-like gushing of water over a house nearby and into the back yard. The roof got good and wet and it looked like a waterfall coming down in the back yard. Skycopter 3 got pictures of this event.
