The final stop on the Tiger Tour looked much like the first nine.

The most popular colors were purple and gold. The items at the silent auction included the usual assortment of autographed jerseys, helmets, sneakers and baseball bats.

But this time, there was no Les Miles, the traditional star of LSU’s annual fundraising caravan.

“Les called me this morning, and we had something come up,” LSU Athletic Director Joe Alleva said. “He had to go out of town. He asked my permission, and I told him to go ahead. He had to go. It was important that he go do it.”

Even without the enthusiastic Miles pumping spirit into the crowd, the pep rally that is the Tiger Tour made it home Thursday night.

Offensive coordinator Gary Crowton, running backs coach/recruiting coordinator Frank Wilson and defensive backs coach Ron Cooper zipped across campus to pinch hit.
