A rainy Friday evening and my Saturday morning…..

I left work with the intention of stopping at the grocery store on the way home.  As I was heading to my car, raindrops were beginning to fall and I didn’t have an umbrella with me.  I made it to the car getting only slightly wet in the process.

Once I got out on to the Interstate, the rain was starting to come down – although not real heavy.  Even so, remembering the last time I went to the grocery store on the way home from work – which got me thoroughly soaked due to what turned into a gullywasher when I came out of the store – I decided against making the stop and instead to just go straight home even though I really needed to pick up a few things.

As I was driving along, all of a sudden a jerk in a Cadillac comes zooming up beside me on the right, moves over in front on me and then on over into the left lane [I was in the middle as you can guess] and takes off.  With the wet conditions, the first thing that popped into my mind and came out of my mouth was to thank God that the jerk didn’t wreck anyone [including me] as if he/she had, it could’ve and probably would’ve been bad.  I did say a “thank You” about this, too.

The rain stayed moderate but steady and I made it on home without any additional issues.  As I turned the corner so that I could turn into the driveway, I hit the clicker to bring the garage door up.  I pulled in and parked, then was about to retrieve my gear from the car when I saw my housemate’s car – she was sitting in the street waiting for a vehicle to pass so she could turn into the driveway.  I went and unlocked the door to the house and waited for her to pull into the driveway and garage and get out of her car before returning to mine to get my gear.  The garage was dry until we pulled inside with our wet cars!

We went on in the house – she had already been home and had gone back out to the fitness club and was returning from there.  I went and took my gear to my bedroom and while it was on my mind, I got $10 out of my wallet and stuck it in my jeans pocket.  Our “circle” is having a birthday party for one of its members this afternoon and this was my contribution towards the gift card for the birthday lady.

I was coming out of my bedroom and about to head down the hallway when my housemate called to me and said that she needed me to corral Sukiey as she needed to get Rusty out of her bathroom.  So, I chased the cat back into my bedroom and pulled the door shut and stood there to make sure she didn’t try to paw the door open and come out.  My housemate brought Rusty out and into the den, then when the “coast was clear” I opened my bedroom door so Sukiey could roam again.

I went on out to the kitchen and scrounged around and found something for supper and ate it and took my PM meds.  I went on to do some things after cleaning up behind myself – I made a couple of phone calls and also got on the Internet and checked my e-mail.  I did give my housemate the $10 since I didn’t know if I could get away from work to attend the party and didn’t know when I might see the person who was getting the gift card to give it to her.

Eventually I went on to bed after getting Sukiey settled down.  I did see that the rainy weather dropped us from 97 degrees in the mid-afternoon down to 75 by the time I went to bed around 9:30 PM.

This morning I woke up about 4:00 AM – earlier than when I usually get up for work – and pretty much laid there, though I got up to “make a trip” and then came back to bed.  I got up about 15-20 minutes before the alarm went off and got on the Internet and checked e-mail.  The alarm went off and I silenced it, then went on to kick off the workday routine.  I saw Sukiey needed food, so I put a scoop down for her and then went on to take a shower and get dressed.

Out to the kitchen, I fixed breakfast and retrieved the newspaper, ate and read it, then cleaned up behind myself.  The front page of the newspaper declared that yesterday’s heat index hit 115 degrees before the cooling rainshowers arrived.

I went and finished getting ready for work, then gathered my gear – including my camera bag.  I headed out and in to work, putting the garage door down as I went down the driveway because my housemate was still in bed.

I made a stop at a convenience store on the way in to work.  I had thought I would stop at the Subway located inside of it, but they weren’t open yet.  Instead I wound up going in the store and getting a couple of snacks [I needed some change] and then headed on in to work.  When I got to the parking lot, I pulled in and parked and gathered my stuff.  Once I entered the building, I had something that needed to go the freezer in the Break Room, so I made a beeline there with it and dropped it in.

Then I took the rest of the gear to my work area.  I realized that I had left my sunglasses in the car, so I made another trip out to retrieve them.  After getting my workday started and everything taken care of, I got the camera out and uploaded some pictures from my old 2GB memory card that my housemate had asked for – she wants to use one of them as her profile picture on her Face Book page.  I copied the pictures onto my flash drive along with a couple of me from Super Bowl Sunday when Dr. Stan Buckley tagged me as “Miss Brees” – a reference to the Drew Brees jersey I was wearing.

I also put the current 4GB memory card in the card reader and brought the pictures on it up and copied a few recent pictures off of it onto my flash drive; I took the opportunity to clean up that memory card by deleting some pictures from it – all of the pictures have already been copied and saved on either my flash drive, a CD or both.  I anticipate several upcoming picture opportunities and I wanted to make sure that there is plenty of room on the memory card – even though I know a 4GB will hold over 2K photos!

I sent the photos of my housemate that she requested to her via e-mail.  I had to do it in 2 separate e-mails due to size limitations.  I’ll help her when she wants to choose one of the pictures to use as her profile picture.  All of the pictures are of her and Rusty together.  I called to let her know that as of now I don’t expect to be able to make it to the birthday party, but I’ll call and update her closer to the time frame that I’ll need to duck out on whether I’m definitely attending or not  so she can give my regrets to the rest of the group if I can’t make it.

This is all I have for now…..
