Former two-sport LSU standout Chad Jones continues to receive care in a New York hospital following the June 25 car accident that left his left leg, ankle and thigh badly damaged and put his athletic career in jeopardy.
Al Jones, Chad’s father, said Thursday his son still has “a series of operations” in front of him, but doctors are happy with the recent NFL draft pick’s progress.
“They like what they see with his leg,” Al Jones said. “It’s going to take some time. They still haven’t given us any kind of timetable. There still hasn’t been a decision about how he will be able to come back and perform.
“But things are looking good for him.”
As a football player, Jones starred at safety in LSU’s secondary for three years. In baseball, he worked as a lefty reliever on the 2009 national championship team.
