THIBODAUX — When Greg McElroy visits the Manning Passing Academy during the summer, he looks forward to working with high school players while honing his own footwork and throwing form under the watchful eyes of some of the best quarterbacks in the game.
But there’s a better reason the Alabama quarterback is back at Nicholls State University for a second straight summer.
“For us (the quarterbacks), more than anything, we get to spend time with each other,” said McElroy, who first participated in the camp last summer, the year before he led the Crimson Tide to the national championship in his first year as a starter. “I think that’s the best thing. We all are going through the same experiences and every one of us understands what it takes to play the college game and every one of us has had success in the college game.
“So just being able to fellowship with each other and talk with each other and spend time in each other’s room and talking life, that’s the best experience.”
