Still Hot!!

This morning I was sitting at the den table and looking at the newspaper while eating breakfast.  My housemate had just taken Rusty's breakfast out to him and was coming back in.  I happened to look at the weather summary on the front page and saw that it said "Still Hot" and indicated today's high was forecast at 96 degrees under sunny skies.  


Well, my desktop weather connection says that it's 97 with a heat index of 101 under sunny skies.  In my book, that's hot!!  Barbie Bassett is calling for highs in the upper 90s for the next couple of days, then says that we've got a 30% chance of rain on Saturday.  I hope we get it - because we need it.  


I've stayed indoors again today - the house is at 74 and my bedroom thermometer registers 76.1, though it's comfortable for me.  Those solar curtains that I ordered earlier in the month are in transit to me - the expected delivery is Friday [7/16].  Once they come in, I'll need to go get a tension rod to hang them on that will accommodate a window width of about 42 1/2 inches - according to my measurement.  It'll be interesting to see if they will make any difference to the temperature in my bedroom.  We put the thermal curtains up and they have helped tremendously; however, we want to try to get it even cooler in here.  The afternoon sun shines directly into the window - there is nothing, such as a tree or bush, in front of the window to block or detour some of it.
